Challenges, Coping Strategies and Supports during Pandemic as Postgraduate and Academician: Lessons from Japan

SERDANG, June 2021 - The Institute of Advanced Technology at UPM hosted a webinar titled "Challenges, Coping Strategies, and Supports as a Postgraduate and Academician during a Pandemic: Lessons from Japan." The seminar was streamed live online via Zoom Applications, Facebook, and YouTube.

This programme is co-organized by the Institute of Advanced Technology and the Malaysia Alumni of Sakura Science and Association (MASSA), with support provided by Japan Science and Technology (JST), the Japan International Science and Technology Exchange Center (JISTEC), the Sakura Science Club Secretariat Japan (SSCS), and the Tokyo Institute of Technology (TiTech).

Two speakers from the Tokyo Institute of Technology (TiTech) have been invited to give talks. Mr. Lai Hung Wei (Adam), a postgraduate student, was the first speaker. While Dr. Yaw Wang Chai, a lecturer, was the second speaker. They shared their experiences and strategies for sustaining daily research and activities in TiTech in the face of this pandemic.

This webinar drew a total of 321 participants. The majority of participants were from Malaysian universities and schools, with a few from Indonesian universities. It is hoped that this seminar will provide motivation, enthusiasm, and guidance to all participants as they face the extremely difficult situation created by the covid-19 pandemic.
