SERDANG, August 14, 2024 – The first workshop on Nanomaterials Application & Modification in Biosensor Design, organized by the Functional Nanotechnology Devices Laboratory (FNDL), Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), concluded with exceptional success. This exclusive hybrid event, held at ION2 and the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, UPM, attracted a diverse group of participants from universities and agencies eager to explore innovative applications of nanomaterials in biosensor technology.

The workshop started on August 13 with a series of engaging presentations and discussions. Attendees were introduced to the revolutionary impact of nanomaterials on biosensor design. Expert talks provided valuable insights into the principles and advancements in biosensors, setting the stage for the hands-on sessions that followed.

The event featured prominent experts in the field. Prof. Lee Yook Heng shared insights on Introduction to Biosensors, Electrochemical Biosensors, Optical Biosensors, Nanomaterials, & Their Applications in Biosensors in the morning session. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jaafar Abdullah continued the afternoon session with talk entitled Nanomaterials for Modification of Screen-Printed Electrodes (SPE), while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yap Wing Feng presented on Principles & Applications of Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR).

The workshop continued on August 14 with two hands-on sessions where participants explored the practical applications of nanomaterials, focusing on SPR and electrochemical sensor measurement. This immersive experience allowed attendees to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios, enhancing their skills in modifying and utilizing nanomaterials for biosensor innovation.
