June 16, 2026 – The Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2) continues to strengthen the excellence of its laboratory services by successfully undergoing the MS ISO/IEC 17025 Surveillance Audit by the Department of Standards Malaysia (JSM).
This comprehensive auditing session involved two main accredited laboratories under ION2, namely the Characterization Laboratory and the Mass Metrology Laboratory. Proudly, this year's audit process marks the beginning of the second certification cycle for ION2 since first receiving the recognition in 2016 under certificate number 763.
Based on the assessment guidelines, the main objective of the surveillance audit for the Chemical and Mass programs is to ensure that the Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) continues to comply with the established accreditation criteria and requirements. This assessment focused on a detailed review of documented information and procedures, laboratory testing methods in use, and the verification of the effective implementation of corrective actions on any non-conformities from the previous audit to ensure continued laboratory competency.
To ensure transparency and compliance with the highest standards, this assessment session was conducted by a panel of highly experienced independent assessors, consisting of three assessors and one observer representative, as follows:
