SERDANG, May 13, 2026 – The Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), is immensely proud of the outstanding achievement of one of its associate researchers, Professor Dr. Chm. Janet Lim Hong Ngee, who successfully secured the Silver Award in the Trademark Category (Brand Champion) at the National Intellectual Property Awards (AHIN) 2026.

This prestigious award, organized by the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) on April 30, is the highest national recognition honoring exceptional local creators and innovators for transforming intellectual property into a strategic economic asset.

Prof. Dr. Janet Lim Hong Ngee, who is also a lecturer at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, UPM, received this recognition through her remarkable innovation, the GrafinTok® Engine Oil Booster. This innovation demonstrates a robust, high-impact intellectual property branding strategy with highly significant commercialization potential.

Through strong trademark protection, the GrafinTok® innovation has not only succeeded in elevating the product's commercial value but has also strengthened consumer and market confidence in locally developed, technology-based products originating directly from university research laboratories.

The development of this innovation, supported by the startup ecosystem under UPM's Putra Science Park (PSP) InnoHub program, proves the vital role of universities in driving technology transfer and the real-world commercialization of research findings to the industry level.
