SERDANG, April 2026 – The Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), successfully organized the Gas Chromatography (GC) Workshop 2026 as a strategic measure to empower the technical skills of its researchers. The program, held from April 2 to 3, 2026, was a joint initiative between the Nanomaterials Processing and Technology Laboratory (NPTL) and industry partner RSS Instrument Sdn. Bhd.

The workshop was designed as a vital platform for ION2 staff, researchers, and postgraduate students to learn the correct operating procedures for the equipment to prevent recurring damage and ensure the longevity of the instruments. This initiative received full support from the top management of ION2.

The two-day workshop featured an industry expert, Mr. Abdul Jalal bin Bilal from RSS Instrument Sdn. Bhd., as the guest speaker. The speaker emphasized that a profound mastery of this instrument is critical for obtaining sustainable and high-quality research data.

To ensure the effectiveness of the training sessions, participation was limited to only 10 participants for both the theoretical and practical sessions on the use of the GC equipment. The total cost of the organization was fully sponsored by the industry "in kind". This allocation covered the costs of catering, learning materials, certificates of participation, and speaker honorariums.

In addition to knowledge sharing, this workshop has made a significant impact in strengthening ION2’s role as a leading center of excellence in nanoscience research. Through this valuable input, participants are expected to apply more efficient chromatography techniques in their future nanotechnology projects.
