4 NOVEMBER, Kluang –The Institute of Advanced Technology (ITMA) collaborated with the Faculty of Education (FPP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in organizing the “Program Peduli Pendidikan STEM Sekolah Luar Bandar” (STEM-Care 1.0) at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan LKTP Belitong di Felda Ulu Belitong, Kluang, Johor.
This program called "STEM is awesome" was started with a short brief by the Principal, Mrs. Mahizan Muhammud and the Head of the UPM Delegation, Dr. Nurzatulshima Kamarudin from FPP and involved about 150 students from Form 1 to 4.
Sessions titled "Learning STEM is Fun" and "Talks: STEM Careers" were conducted by Dr. Nurzatulshima Kamarudin and Lft. Colonel Othman Jailani of FPP, while "STEM in Life" was led by Dr. Intan Helina Hassan and Mr Muhammad Asnawi Mohd Kusaimi from ITMA and assisted by several facilitators.
The program focused on increasing students' interest in science and technology, exposure to STEM applications in their daily lives as well as career opportunities and pathways. The program concludes with a speech session, exchange of certificates of appreciation and souvenirs at the closing ceremony.
