SERDANG, 13 November – Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Suraya Abdul Rashid, Director of the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), has been honoured with two national awards within a single week, featuring her leadership in research and innovation.

On 6 November 2025, she received the Excellence in Research Innovation Award (STEM Category) at the Malaysia Scopus Research Star Awards (MSRSA) 2025, held in conjunction with the Festival of Ideas Putrajaya (FOI) and organised by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).

The award recognises her dedication and significant contributions in advancing research and innovation, particularly in nanotechnology and advanced materials, which are pivotal to future technological development.

Two days later, she was presented with the Luminary Award at the Malaysia Invention & Innovation Convention (MYIIC) 2025, organised by the Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS) at the Royal Lake Club, Kuala Lumpur. The Luminary Award is among the highest honours for researchers and innovators who have made exceptional contributions to invention, innovation, and scientific advancement.

Prof. Suraya expressed gratitude, emphasising that the recognition reflects the collective efforts of UPM’s research community.

“I hope this success inspires young researchers to continue innovating and making a meaningful impact,” she said.

Her dual achievements reaffirm Prof. Suraya’s position as a leading Malaysian researcher and a symbol of UPM’s research excellence on the global stage.
