Serdang, 17 July – A webinar entitled “UPM-SLRI Webinar Series 1 Unlocking the Light: Introduction to Synchrotron Research and Opportunities” was held online. The event was jointly organized by the Functional Nanotechnology Device Laboratory (FNDL), the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), and the Synchrotron Light Research Institute (SLRI), Thailand. The objective of this half-day webinar was to provide participants with insights into the theory and potential of using synchrotron light sources and their significance in research. Additionally, the event served to strengthen ION2’s networking with international industry partners.

This webinar series is part of ongoing initiatives to sustain close collaboration with SLRI. Programs like this are vital as an initial step to expose participants to the functions, roles, and general overview of SLRI. Future sessions in the webinar series will focus on techniques, technological advancements, and applications. Such exposure is crucial for researchers to better understand the facilities offered by SLRI as a research and technical expertise hub.

Researchers can access and utilize the light generated at SLRI in the form of x-rays, ultraviolet, and infrared beams. The speaker for this webinar was Dr. Wutthikrai Busayaporn from SLRI, presenting on the topic “Synchrotron Radiations and Applications.” A total of 38 participants from within and outside UPM attended the webinar. The session also saw participation from industry representatives and FNDL students. It is hoped that this webinar will be beneficial and help further disseminate knowledge on the use of synchrotron light sources in the fields of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
