SERDANG, MARCH 2024 – A Research Attachment Program at Chulalongkorn University (CU), Bangkok, Thailand, has been successfully attended by Ts. Dr. Mohd Hafizuddin bin Ab Ghani, a Research Officer from the Material Synthesis and Characterization Laboratory (NSCL) and Miss Balkis Hazmi, a PhD student at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), UPM. In addition, Mr. Muhammad Aliyu also underwent research attachment at the Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan.

Dr Mohd Hafizuddin went to a one-week research attachment program from 17th to 23rd March 2024 in the field of advances in nanocomposite and bio-composite polymeric materials. Meanwhile, Balkis' research internship, which revolves around catalysts for jet fuel, is running for three months, starting from 3rd January - 1st April 2024. They have been supervised by Prof. Dr. Chawalit Ngamcharussrivichai, Director, Center of Excellence in Catalysis of Bioenergy and Renewable Chemicals (CBRC), Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. Meanwhile, Aliyu has been undergoing research for six months, from 1st March to 31st August 2024. He is supervised by Prof. Associate Dr. Tsubota Toshiki, a lecturer in the Department of Materials Science, Graduate School of Engineering, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan, during his fellowship program there.

The Research Attachment Program allows UPM officers and students to improve their research experience and meet experts at other leading universities abroad. This program also aims to provide space and opportunities for staff and students to learn skills, knowledge, and research culture abroad. A valuable experience like this can be a starting point for building a professional network in the chosen career and field of expertise.
