SERDANG, February 13, 2023 - A delegation from the Faculty of Innovative Design and Technology (FRIT), Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Terengganu, recently visited the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2) at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The delegation, consisting of seven representatives led by Ts. Dr. Ruwaidy bin Mat Rasul, Deputy Dean of Research and Development at UniSZA, arrived at ION2 to gain insights into laboratory management.
The purpose of their visit was to learn about the laboratory management system at ION2's Characterization Laboratory, with the aim of making their Material Characterization Laboratory (MCL FRIT) an MS ISO/IEC 17025 accredited research laboratory.
The program commenced at 9:30 am, with a warm welcome from Prof. Dr. Mohd Nizar Hamidon, the Director of ION2. UniSZA's representative then delivered an introductory speech. Mrs. Sarinawani Abdul Ghani, Quality Manager at ION2, conducted a briefing about the ION2 Accreditation Laboratory (Characterization Laboratory), providing valuable insights into laboratory management and quality assurance.
The visit also included a question-and-answer session, a laboratory tour, and a technical explanation by Mr. Md. Ali Rani. The day was graced with a photo session and the exchange of souvenirs to mark an informative and collaborative visit.
This knowledge-sharing session between institutions plays a vital role in strengthening research capabilities and advancing laboratory standards in the academic and research communities, aligning with the pursuit of excellence in scientific research and analysis. The teams at ION2 and UniSZA are expected to benefit from this exchange of expertise in laboratory management.
