5th Malaysian Metal-Organic Frameworks Workshop Draws Enthusiastic Participation

SERDANG, 18 April - The 5th Malaysian Metal-Organic Frameworks Workshop concluded with resounding success, gathering 15 researchers and students for three enriching days filled with expert-led sessions, insightful discussions, and valuable networking opportunities. Hosted by the Foundry of Reticular Materials for Sustainability (FORMS) Laboratory, Institute of Nanoscience & Nanotechnology (ION2), and Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), in collaboration with ANALIS and MASS, the workshop took place from April 16th to April 18th, 2024, at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, UPM.

The program commenced with an opening speech by Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Suraya Abdul Rashid, Director of ION2, setting the tone for the workshop's proceedings.

Renowned experts in the field of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) delved into the fundamentals of MOFs, covering synthesis techniques, characterization methods, and diverse applications. Notably, the workshop featured a hands-on session on sample preparation and characterization, providing participants with practical insights into the subject matter.

The workshop was honored with the presence of Prof. Seungkyu Lee from the University of Hong Kong as the featured speaker, alongside 10 other speakers from UPM, as well as other esteemed institutions and companies.

The success of the workshop was further amplified by the generous support of several companies, including RGS Corporation Sdn Bhd, LabAlliance Sdn Bhd, Carl Zeiss Sdn Bhd, Kinematic Resources Sdn Bhd, Bruker (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Atomic Solutions Sdn Bhd, Novatiq Scientific, and Scienfield Expertise Plt.

With its engaging sessions, expert speakers, and strong industry support, the 5th Malaysian Metal-Organic Frameworks Workshop stands as a testament to the growing interest and importance of MOFs in the field of materials science.
