SERDANG, July- ION2 recently organized a dynamic two-day workshop aimed at fostering the creation of impactful articles for Q1 journals. Titled "Intensive Workshop on Q1 Journal Publishing," the program unfolded on July 11 and 12, 2023, hosted at the L'Aprenti Restaurant, UPM.
Attended by 15 enthusiastic students and staff members, the workshop commenced with a comprehensive lecture delivered by ION2's Associate Researcher, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yap Wing Fen. Dr. Yap emphasized crucial elements in scientific writing, highlighting the significance of a well-crafted research question, a focused scope, and a structured approach. Throughout the workshop, he also provided valuable insights on improving the clarity of scientific manuscripts, emphasizing the importance of using active voice and incorporating effective visual aids such as tables and figures to present data.
Participants engaged in an interactive article-writing session post-lecture, applying the insights gained and receiving feedback directly from Dr. Yap and their peers. On the second day of the workshop, his sharing focused on addressing article reviewer comments and effectively matching articles with suitable journals.
ION2 envisages that this workshop will empower attendees with the requisite skills and knowledge to produce top-notch scientific manuscripts, thereby contributing to the advancement of their respective fields.
The context of an escalating demand for exceptional scientific manuscripts amplifies the significance of workshops like these. Given the proliferation of journals and the intensifying competition for top-tier publications, such platforms have become pivotal for researchers to refine and elevate their writing abilities. Participants expressed gratitude for the invaluable guidance they received from an experienced researcher.
