Serdang, July 14, 2025 – The Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2) at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has once again demonstrated its commitment to driving innovation and knowledge sharing. The Adjunct Professor Lecture Series 2025, organized by ION2's Nanomaterials Processing and Technology Laboratory (NPTL), successfully drew widespread interest with outstanding hybrid participation.
The event, held physically at the MEGA Putra Seminar Room and concurrently online via Google Meet, brought together 36 participants from diverse backgrounds. Thirteen attendees joined in person, while another 23 participated online, comprising individuals from the UPM community, other local public and private universities, as well as representatives from government agencies and industry players. This impressive turnout clearly highlights the increasing relevance and importance of nanotechnology across various fields.
The core of this lecture series was the invaluable insights shared by the esteemed NPTL Adjunct Professor, Professor Dr. Chawalit Ngamcharussrivichai. He is a prominent figure from the Center of Excellence on Biorefining and Renewable Chemicals, and the Department of Chemical Technology, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. Prof. Chawalit captivated the audience with his lecture titled "Biomass Conversion into Biofuels and High-Value Biochemical via Nanocatalyst." His presentation illuminated the immense potential of nanotechnology in environmental sustainability and the production of renewable energy sources.
The program was efficiently moderated by Ts. Dr. Umer Rashid, a Research Fellow at ION2, ensuring a smooth and engaging knowledge-sharing session. The interactive Q&A session underscored the deep interest and active engagement of the participants. The diverse backgrounds of the attendees, ranging from academia to industry and Research Institutes, emphasized the broad applications and impact of nanomaterial technology across various disciplines and sectors.
The success of the Adjunct Professor Lecture Series 2025 further reinforces ION2's dedication to promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange, particularly within the agricultural and environmental nanotechnology sectors. It stands as clear evidence that UPM, through ION2, continues to play a leading role in shaping the future of nano-based innovation in Malaysia and the region.
