Importance of Sensors

In Surah Ar-Rahman verse 4 means,

"He is the One who has enabled man (to speak) to give and receive revelation"

This verse clearly shows that we are able to communicate with each other and easily understand what is being said to make sure that our social life can run smoothly. But after the invention of the computer, humans have begun to be able to communicate with machines that are built to make it easier for us to do our daily work. Communication occurs when the machine is able to understand all the instructions given to it. Now with the latest Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) especially in the use of sensors and artificial intelligence (AI), machines have been able to communicate with each other without the need for human assistance.

It is also found that with the widespread use of sensors, humans have now been able to communicate with nature. This can be done because nature has certain rules that have been set, as in surah Ar-Rahman verses 5 and 6 which means,

“The sun and the moon move with certain rules and calculations. And the creeping plants and the trees, each one is subject to His rule. "

These rules are consistent and can be translated into a number of variables that can be analyzed to understand their meaning. Information from these variables can be collected by using sensors and the sensors convert that information into electrical forms that we can store in a computer.

And so, sensors are very important as intermediaries for us to communicate with nature and understand what is happening.

Therefore at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, we are very focused on the development of sensors especially in increasing their efficiency by using nanotechnology.
