SERDANG, 11 February 2026 - Institute of Nanoscience dan Nanotechnology (ION2) received an official visit from Prof. Junji Inukai of the Clean Energy Research Center and Fuel Cell Nanomaterials Center, Yamanashi University, Japan. The visit was held in conjunction with the introduction of the J-PEAKS (Japan Program for Accelerated Innovation and Research Excellence in Advanced Knowledge Society) initiative, which aims to strengthen strategic research networking between Japanese institutions and international partners.
During the visit, Prof. Inukai toured the Nanomaterials Synthesis and Characterisation Laboratory (NSCL) to review progress on the “graphenated carbon nanotubes (CNT) for battery application” project. The project focuses on developing high-performance nanomaterials to enhance the efficiency, stability, and lifespan of next-generation energy storage systems, in line with the growing demand for sustainable and competitive battery technologies.
He also visited the Nano Processing and Technology Laboratory (NPTL) to observe ongoing research on the “deoxygenation” and “biohydrogen” projects, which centre on the production of alternative fuels and the advancement of efficient, environmentally friendly clean energy technologies.
The visit provided a valuable platform for constructive academic discussions, exchange of technical expertise, and exploration of potential joint research and publication initiatives. It further strengthened academic ties between Yamanashi University and ION2 in the fields of clean energy and advanced nanomaterials, supporting the internationalisation aspirations of both institutions.
