SERDANG, March 2024 – Staff and students from ION2 at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) are actively engaged in the Research Attachment and Internship Program at Chulalongkorn University (CU), Bangkok, Thailand, and Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan. Among them are Ts. Dr. Mohd Hafizuddin bin Ab Ghani, Research Officer from the Material Synthesis and Characterization Laboratory (NSCL), and ION2 PhD candidates Miss Balkis Hazmi and Mr. Muhammad Aliyu.
Dr. Mohd Hafizuddin participated in a one-week research attachment program from March 17th to 23rd, 2024, focusing on advancements in nanocomposite and bio-composite polymeric materials. Balkis' internship, which focuses on catalysts for jet fuel, spans three months, from January 3rd to April 1st, 2024. Both were under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Chawalit Ngamcharussrivichai, Director of the Center of Excellence in Catalysis of Bioenergy and Renewable Chemicals (CBRC) at the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.
Meanwhile, Aliyu's six-month research program, from March 1st to August 31st, 2024, is supervised by Prof. Associate Dr. Tsubota Toshiki in the Department of Materials Science at the Graduate School of Engineering, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan.
Dr. Hafizuddin selected Chulalongkorn University due to its academic excellence, state-of-the-art facilities, expert faculty, diverse research opportunities, international collaborations, supportive environment, and strategic location.
Such programs enable UPM staff and students to enhance their research capabilities at renowned international institutions, foster professional networks and prepare them for successful careers in their respective fields.
Participation in these initiatives also enhances the visibility of ION2 and UPM on the global stage.
