Serdang, 13 January – The Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), recently welcomed three researchers from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesia, for a three-day research attachment programme from 13 to 15 January 2025.

The research team, led by Dr. Ariyati Retno Pratiwi, conducted their work at the Nanomaterials Synthesis and Characterization Laboratory (NSCL) under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr. Che Azurahanim Che Abdullah and Dr. Rosnah Nawang.

Their research focused on synthesizing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using plant leaf extracts, leveraging the facilities available at ION2. In addition to carrying out experimental work, both parties engaged in strategic discussions to explore long-term research collaboration opportunities between ION2 and Universitas Brawijaya.

Beyond laboratory work, the visiting researchers participated in several engagement activities, including a visit to UPM’s International Centre (i-PUTRA) and a luncheon at the Engineer’s Lounge on the second day of their visit. On the final day, the delegation was also hosted by former Head of NSCL, Professor Dr. Mohd Zobir Hussein, for lunch at the UNITEN Food Court.

ION2 looks forward to strengthening research collaboration with the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Brawijaya, and fostering greater regional academic partnerships in the future.
