ION2 Nurtures STEM Talent Through NanoDidik @Perak

Tapah, 10 June - ION2 successfully organised NanoDidik @ Perak 2026, a two-day programme held at Dewan Sri Bitara, Sekolah Menengah Sains Tapah (SESTA), Perak. This initiative is part of a continuous effort to nurture interest and talent in STEM fields, particularly nanoscience and nanotechnology, among secondary school students and teachers.

Now in its fourth year, NanoDidik continues to strengthen its role as a knowledge transfer platform that bridges advanced scientific knowledge with school-level education. The programme aims to expose students early to the vast potential of nanotechnology across various sectors, including healthcare, energy, electronics, environmental sustainability, and advanced materials.

Approximately 150 Chemistry teachers and Form 4 students from schools across Perak participated in this year’s programme. Throughout the two-day event, participants engaged in interactive sessions, talks, and demonstrations designed to enhance their understanding of fundamental nanotechnology concepts and their real-world applications.

The programme received strong support from key strategic partners, including the National Nanotechnology Centre (NNC), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), the Perak State Education Department (JPN Perak), and the Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM). The presence of a KPM Putrajaya representative as an observer further highlighted the Ministry’s continued interest and support for initiatives aimed at strengthening STEM education in schools.

ION2 extends its sincere appreciation to the management, teachers, organising committee, students, and staff of SESTA for their outstanding cooperation and support throughout the programme. Special thanks are also extended to all facilitators and volunteers whose dedication ensured the smooth implementation of the two-day event.

As the programme enters its fourth year, NanoDidik continues to demonstrate a positive impact in expanding STEM literacy among students. ION2 remains committed to sustaining this initiative in shaping a scientifically literate, innovative, and future-ready generation equipped to meet the challenges of emerging technologies.
