Putrajaya, 13 February 2025 – The Higher Education Research Excellence Division (BKPI) under the Ministry of Higher Education, together with the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), organized the Malaysia Research Star Award (MRSA) 2025 Gala Night. The event was officiated by the Minister of Higher Education, the Honorable Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, and aimed to recognize researchers for their efforts in producing high-quality publications with significant impact.

On that evening, Associate Professor Dr. Yap Wing Fen from the Functional Nanotechnology Devices Laboratory (FNDL) received an award in the “Researcher Cluster” category, which included a trophy, a certificate of appreciation, and a cash prize of RM 1,000. There were four main award categories: Frontier Researcher, Outstanding Research in Phytochemicals, Researcher Cluster, and the Journal Category. These awards were presented to researchers and local journals that have successfully produced high-quality publications that contribute to national development.

This recognition serves as proof of the capabilities of local researchers and journals in contributing to the advancement of knowledge and high-quality research in Malaysia. It also serves as a platform for researchers at ION2 to enhance the visibility of ION2 and UPM at the highest level.
