Indonesia, July 2023 – Ts. Dr. Mohd Hafizuddin Ab Ghani, the ION2 Mobility Program Coordinator and Research Officer of the Nanomaterials Synthesis and Characterization Laboratory (NSCL), represented the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2) in the 23rd CommTECH Nusantara Virtual Program from 3rd to 14th July 2023.

Organized by the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Global Engagement in Surabaya, Indonesia, the program attracted 40 international participants from Malaysia, Singapore, China, Philippines, Taiwan, Bangladesh, and Greece.

Focused on art and culture, the program offered activities such as traditional music and dance, Batik making, and exploring Surabaya Kampongs. Participants engaged in various culture-themed slots, including Surabaya, Bali, Sulawesi, and Kalimantan Editions, each highlighting the unique culture of the region. From learning Batik drawing to enjoying Balinese dance moves virtually, the program offered a comprehensive cultural experience.

"This is my first participation in an international cultural program. Such initiatives provide participants with a valuable opportunity to delve into diverse cultures and cultivate international collaborations. We should also consider organizing a similar program to showcase our own rich cultural heritage," said Dr. Hafizuddin.

Dr. Hafizuddin managed to successfully complete the program despite the challenge of the time difference and working beyond office hours, ending at 10 pm Malaysian time. His exceptional efforts were rewarded as he won the Best Video Award for his participation in posters and videos with cultural motifs.

The CommTECH Nusantara Virtual Program continues to foster cultural exchange and international collaborations, further enhancing ITS Surabaya's reputation as a leading technological university with a proactive approach to community development and global engagement.
