SERDANG, 13 February - Staff from Institute of Nanoscience dan Nanotechnology (ION2) actively participated in the first-ever Putra i-Games, a sports competition between UPM institutes at the UPM Stadium.
The event featured four competing institute alliances. ION2 was part of Alliance 4, together with the Halal Products Research Institute (IPPH), the Institute for Mathematical Research (INSPEM), and the Institute of Ecosystem Science Borneo (IEB), UPM Sarawak. The main objectives of Putra i-Games are to provide staff with opportunities to engage actively in sports while promoting a healthy lifestyle, foster teamwork, friendship, and unity, and offer exposure to small-scale sports management as a foundation for leadership and organisational skill development.
The opening ceremony commenced at 8:00 a.m. and was followed by a lively aerobic session to kick off the program. Throughout the competition, ION2 staff displayed high levels of enthusiasm and team spirit across various events, including badminton, table tennis, volleyball, Flip Bottle Challenge, Fit Step, Five-a-Side Penalty, Blindfold Challenge, darts, and tug-of-war.
Although the team did not secure the overall championship, their participation earned praise for demonstrating dedication, collaboration, and sportsmanship. The program is expected to serve as a continuous platform for strengthening bonds, enhancing UPM’s institutional brand, and supporting the university’s aspirations to cultivate a culture of sports and staff well-being.
ION2’s involvement in the first-ever Putra i-Games clearly illustrates that its staff excel not only in academic and research fields but also actively promote healthy living and teamwork among colleagues. Congratulations and well done to all participants for their commitment and enthusiastic participation.
