ION2-UPM Strengthens Research Collaboration in Türkiye

TÜRKİYE, 8 September 2025 – Dr. Ismayadi Ismail, Senior Researcher from the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), successfully completed an academic visit to Türkiye from 27 August to 8 September 2025, marking another significant milestone in UPM’s efforts to expand its global research network and strengthen strategic international partnerships.

The visit began in Ankara with Dr. Ismayadi’s participation in the 19th International Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Conference (NanoTR-19) at Middle East Technical University (METU). At the event, one of Türkiye’s largest scientific conferences, he presented his latest research titled “Parametric Study on Graphenated Carbon Nanotubes Fabricated by Single-Step Floating Catalyst Chemical Vapor Deposition.” The conference served as an excellent platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration with leading researchers, industry experts, and policymakers from around the world.

Dr. Ismayadi also visited Pomega Energy Storage Technologies in Ankara, accompanied by Prof. Emre Gür from EskiÅŸehir Osmangazi University. The company is a strategic partner in his ongoing MIGHT–TÜBİTAK Joint Research Project. Discussions focused on advancing lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery cell technology and exploring potential collaborations in energy storage systems and sustainable power solutions.

From 2 to 8 September, Dr. Ismayadi continued his visit with a research attachment program at Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) in Trabzon, working closely with researchers in Prof. Mehmet Ertugrul’s laboratory. The collaboration focused on developing and testing electromagnetic absorber materials, resulting in promising experimental findings and paving the way for a joint patent application and co-authored scientific publication.

On his final day at KTU, Dr. Ismayadi met with KTU Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Çuvalcı, to reaffirm the UPM–KTU Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The meeting strengthened commitments to expand joint research, enhance student and staff mobility, and pursue international funding opportunities under the MIGHT–TÜBİTAK and EU Horizon Europe programs. The visit and research collaboration were also featured in the Günebakış regional newspaper, highlighting UPM’s growing global presence and its dedication to advancing frontier research through strategic international partnerships.
