24 January 2025 :The collaboration staffs of Institute of Nanoscience & Nanotechnology (ION2) and the ION2 Green Sustainability Committee has successfully implemented the Gotong Royong Search and Destroy Aedes Mosquito Breeding Sites program, known as Search & Destroy (S&D). The idea of ​​this program is an initiative from Universiti Putra Malaysia and the University Health Center (PKU) with the aim of reducing the Aedes mosquito population and preventing the spread of diseases such as dengue on the UPM campus, especially in preparation for the final semester exam.
The activities carried out include routine inspections of the surrounding area to identify and destroy Aedes mosquito breeding sites, such as containers that collect rainwater. In addition, this program also involves education and awareness sessions for UPM residents on the importance of environmental hygiene practices and Aedes mosquito prevention measures.
With continued commitment and active involvement of all parties, the S&D program is expected to achieve a healthier environment and free from the threat of diseases transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes.
