iSAMN2023: A Gathering for Nanotechnology Experts

SERDANG, 12 September - The The Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2) at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) hosting the seventh edition of the International Symposium on Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology (iSAMN2023), bringing together experts and researchers in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology. iSAMN2023 has embraced a hybrid format this year, reinvigorating face-to-face interactions after three years of virtual gatherings.

Taking place physically at the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) Building at UPM, iSAMN2023 is also offering online participation opportunities, ensuring engagement for a global audience and accommodating the evolving needs of diverse stakeholders.

The theme for this year, "Nanotechnologies Toward a Green and Sustainable Future," underscores the pivotal role nanotechnology plays in shaping our world. The era of nanotechnology has ignited profound scientific curiosity, unearthing unprecedented insights and groundbreaking discoveries.

Associate Prof. ChM. Dr. Jaafar Abdullah, Chairman of iSAMN2023, emphasizes that this symposium serves as a platform for scholars in nanoscience and nanotechnology to convene, exchange perspectives, disseminate revolutionary research, and nurture innovative ideas with the potential to shape our future.

"While engaging in discussions, we encourage all participants to actively engage, collaborate, and establish networks with fellow research partners. The relationships forged during this event can be the cornerstone of enduring collaborations that transcend geographical and disciplinary boundaries," he adds.

iSAMN2023 which was officiated by the Deputy Director of UPM's Strategy and Corporate Relations Center (PSPK), Associate Prof. Dr. Dahlia Zawawi features a lineup of keynote speakers, representing both local and international institutions:

  • Prof. Prof Dr Ruslinda A. Rahim, Director of the National Nanotechnology Centre (NNC).
  • Associate Dr. Shyam S. Pandey, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan.
  • Madya Dr. Mehmet Zahmakiran, Universiti Bartin.
  • Dr. Eda Yuhana Ariffin, Biogenes Technologies Sdn Bhd, Malaysia.

Participation from various international institutions, including those from the United Arab Emirates, China, and Nigeria, as well as several esteemed local institutions such as USM, UKM, UTM, UPNM, UMS, UMT, UiTM, MARDI, and the Malaysian Nuclear Agency, marks a significant milestone for iSAMN2023.

This symposium represents a noteworthy achievement in our collective pursuit of advancing knowledge, fostering innovation, and contributing to the future of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
