Journal Writing Workshop 2018 has been organized by Materials Synthesis and Characterization Laboratory (MSCL), ITMA on 25^th to 26^th of July 2018 at Academic Complex A, Universiti Putra Malaysia to achieve the following objectives:

• Giving awareness to the participants on the important of publishing in high impact journals (Q1/Q2)
• Facilitating the participants on the writing and publishing skills in high impact journals
• Becoming a platform for the senior officer to help and assist junior officer in writing and publishing high impact journals.
• Increasing understanding and strengthening the relationship between staff and enhancing the teamwork.

A total of 48 participants were involved in the workshop consisting of staff and students from Universiti Putra Malaysia and the activities went as planned. Participants were exposed to journal writing techniques during the workshop through several lectures by speakers comprising lecturers and post-doctoral researcher. The 2-day workshop was conducted by speakers with the following topics: Dr. Nor Azah Yusof-(How to Publish a Review Manuscript), Syed Muhammad Hafiz Syed Mohd Jaafar-(How to Publish in a High Impact Journal), Prof. Dr. Suraya Abdul Rashid-(How to Respond to Reviewers' Comments), Dr. Ismayadi Ismail-(Choosing the Right Journal for Early-career Researchers)
