Lateral Flow Workshop: Basics and Trends in Lateral Flow Tests

Serdang, 17 April 2025 – The Lateral Flow Workshop: Basic and Trends in Lateral Flow Tests, organized by the Functional Nanotechnology Devices Laboratory under the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), concluded successfully after two days of engaging sessions and hands-on activities.

Day 1, held virtually on April 16, featured insightful presentations by Prof. ChM. Dr. Nor Azah Yusof and Dr. Muhammad Hafiznur Yunus, who shared their expertise on the fundamentals and recent advancements in lateral flow technology. Topics included LAMP-based lateral flow systems and broader trends in diagnostic testing innovation.

The momentum continued on Day 2 (April 17) with an intensive hands-on session led by Dr. Hafiznur Yunus. Participants worked directly with materials and tools to produce their own lateral flow strips. The session covered the preparation of conjugate solutions using gold nanoparticles, reagent deposition techniques, and final strip fabrication—providing attendees with a comprehensive end-to-end experience in lateral flow assay development.

The workshop brought together researchers and students from UPM and other institutions, fostering a collaborative learning environment at the intersection of biosensing and nanotechnology.

The organizers extended their heartfelt appreciation to all participants, facilitators, and partners for their contributions in making the event a success.
