Mastering Flexible Electronics: EDS Malaysia Summer School 2024 Concludes Successfully

SERDANG, August 7 – The EDS Malaysia Summer School 2024, co-organized by the Functional Nanotechnology Devices Lab, Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), has successfully concluded its three-day program. Held from August 5 to August 7, 2024, at the Faculty of Engineering and ION2, the event attracted 35 participants, including students, researchers, technical staff, and engineers, all eager to advance their expertise in flexible electronics.

This year’s summer school was specifically designed to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of flexible electronic circuits and systems, exploring the latest technological advancements, and offering hands-on experience in designing and developing flexible applications.

On the first day, participants gained valuable insights from expert talks covering a broad range of flexible electronics topics, including introductions to flexible electronics, biomedical applications, inkjet-printed RFID devices, and more.

The summer school also featured an industrial talk by Khai Lien Silk Screen and a visit to their facility in Selangor on the second day as a part of industrial engagement, where participants observed a live demonstration of the stencil frame production process.

Attendees were also proactively engaged in practical sessions, including screen printing fabrication and flexible sensor testing, led by Dr. Intan Helina Hasan from ION2, supported by SPTech Sdn. Bhd. as the technology collaborator in flexible electronics. These hands-on activities were aimed at enhancing practical skills and deepening understanding of flexible electronics measurements and methodologies.

This event marked the first summer school collaboration between ION2 and EDS Malaysia, expanding the "Printed Electronics: Fabrication and Application" series from previous years. Participants have gained valuable knowledge, enhanced practical skills, and valuable new connections in the rapidly growing field of flexible electronics.
