SERDANG, 14th June 2023 – The Malaysian Board of Technology (MBOT) Leisure Talk with the theme, empower your professional development and get to know the benefit was organized by the ION2’s Graduate Club. This talk was conducted virtually which has successfully attracted 60 participants. The briefing was delivered by MBOT representative, Ts. Abdul Hafiz Mohamad Nor, Deputy Registrar of MBOT Operations. The program was led by Miss Nur Afif Nadhrah Kamaruzaman, ION2 master's student with support by Persatuan Saintis Muslim Malaysia (PERINTIS) as a co-organizer.

This leisure talk was held to introduce and share the function of MBOT in recognizing and register technologists and technicians as Professionals based on technology and technical fields. MBOT leisure talk were benefits to all graduate students, postgraduates, UPM staff as well as the community who are currently and will be involved in professional technology and technical fields. The program held also create chances for technologists to identify the opportunities they will get as well as the advantages of being involved with MBOT as certified technologist and technician.

The program held will have an impact on technologists in the field they are engaged in as well as expanding their knowledge in other fields of technology. This gives an advantage to students and technologists in expanding access to high quality in Technical & Vocational Education Training (TVET) and at the same time can help Malaysia achieve the status of a developed country.

The talk was also attended by YBhg. Prof. Ts. Dr. Suraya Abdul Rashid Deputy Director, ION2 and Chairman of the Graduate Committee, ION2. In her briefing, Prof. Suraya has shared the advantages of being a member of MBOT. In addition, she also urged all qualified participants to register as professional technologists or technicians to do so, to dignify their respective professions.
