Serdang, 16 July 2025 – The Nanomaterials Processing and Technology Laboratory (NPTL) successfully organized the Nanocatalyst Workshop 2025 on 15–16 July 2025 at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), Universiti Putra Malaysia.

The workshop featured two distinguished speakers, Prof. Dr. Chawalit Ngamcharussrivichai from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, who also serves as an Adjunct Professor at ION2, and Ts. Dr. Umer Rashid, Research Fellow at ION2. The topics covered included an introduction to the fundamentals of nanocatalysis, preparation methods, and detailed characterisation techniques.

In addition to the lecture sessions, participants were given the opportunity to experience hands-on preparation of nanocatalyst using sol-gel and co-precipitation methods, which had been explained theoretically during the talks. This practical session was facilitated by Dr. Siti Zulaika and demonstrated by Ms. Balkis Hazmi. The nanocatalysts produced during this session were later used for characterisation activities on the second day.

This intensive workshop was attended by five participants, including postgraduate students from UPM and one engineering lecturer from the Sunway University. All participants provided highly positive feedback and expressed their hope for similar workshops to be organised in the future.

The successful organisation of the Nanocatalyst Workshop 2025 clearly reflects ION2’s continuous commitment to advancing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the fields of nanoscience and nanotechnology, thereby contributing to the growth of research and innovation in Malaysia.
