SERDANG, 22nd February - The Nanomaterials Processing and Technology Laboratory (NPTL) recently organized a comprehensive webinar on Nanomaterials Technology. This 2-hour seminar was conducted online via the Google Meet platform, allowing for broad participation despite geographical limitations.
The webinar featured two distinguished researchers in the field of nanotechnology, each presenting valuable insights into their respective areas of expertise. The first speaker, Associate Professor Dr. Toshiki Tsubota from the Kyushu Institute of Technology, delivered a compelling lecture titled ‘Applications of Activated Carbon Derived from Bamboo’. Drawing inspiration from the abundant bamboo resources in Japan, Dr. Tsubota focused on the optimal processes for converting bamboo into activated carbon. His presentation highlighted the commercial value and unique properties of this material, underscoring its significance in various industrial applications.
The second speaker was Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Norkhairunnisa Mazlan, an associate researcher at NPTL and the Head of the Nanotechnology Program. Dr. Mazlan’s presentation, titled ‘Overview of the Fire and Thermal Performance of Polymer Nanocomposites’, provided an in-depth analysis of fire retardant materials derived from nano polymer composites. Her discussion covered the enhanced fire resistance and thermal performance of these advanced materials, offering valuable insights into their potential applications.
A total of 52 participants attended the online seminar, expressing enthusiasm and appreciation for the content presented. Many participants have indicated a desire for more such programs in the future, reflecting the success and impact of this webinar in advancing knowledge in the field of nanomaterials technology.
