SERDANG, 15^th November 2021 – The Rebranding Launch Ceremony: Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology was held in hybrid form to commemorate the rebranding of the Institute of Advanced Technology (ITMA) to a new name, Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2). The rebranding takes effect on 1^st November 2021, after 22 years of its establishment. The ceremony was officiated by YBhg. Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan bin Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UPM.

Some of the notable guests of the ceremony included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ruslinda A Rahim, Director of National Nanotechnology Centre (NNC), Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI); Dr. Rezal Khairi Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NanoMalaysia Berhad; Prof. Dr. Ir. B.T. Hang Tuah Baharudin, UPM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Relations); En. Muhazam Mansor, UPM Registrar; En. Muzaffar Shah Kassim, UPM Chief Librarian; and ITMA former directors including Emeritus Prof Dato' Abang Abdullah Abang Ali, Prof. Dr. Robiah Yunus, and Prof. Dr. Nor Azah Yusof.

The ceremony started with Welcoming Speech by YBhg. Prof. Dr. Mohd Nizar Hamidon, ION2 Director, followed by Officiating Speech by Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan. After the officiation plaque signing ceremony, the audience was presented with a montage video of ION2 and an introduction to technopreneurs born from research conducted in the institute. The guests were then invited to visit ION2 laboratories and high technology equipment including the latest XRD equipment.

Thank you to all attendees of the launching ceremony and congratulations to ION2 on the rebranding. It is hoped that ION2 will continue to strive for international visibility and recognition as a valuable contribution towards UPM in the fields of advanced materials and nanotechnology, focusing on nanoscale green synthesis and applications.
