Record Disposal Procedure Briefing and Workshop

SERDANG, May 10 - For the first time, the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), in collaboration with the Sultan Abdul Samad Library (PSAS), organized a Record Disposal Procedure Briefing and Workshop.

The workshop aimed to provide a clear understanding of the proper methods and procedures for disposing of files and records in accordance with the guidelines set by the National Archives of Malaysia. It sought to enhance knowledge on implementing a record disposal program, address the issue of inactive record piles in the office, and improve overall record and file management at ION2.

The workshop was attended by 33 officers and staff members of ION2, both directly and indirectly involved in managing and handling files and records at the Institute.

The event also featured participation from four staff members of the Sultan Abdul Samad Library, who served as mentors. The team was led by Mr. Muizzudin Kaspol, Head of the Media, Archives, and Conservation Division at the Sultan Abdul Samad Library.

The workshop began with a briefing by Ms. Norhazura Hamzah, who detailed the workshop agenda, including practical record segregation, explanation of relevant forms, hands-on record disposal training, preparation of approval documents, drafting cover letters, and record destruction simulations.

The workshop successfully met its objectives, ensuring adherence to proper record disposal procedures and compliance with the guidelines set by the National Archives of Malaysia.
