Shinshu University Students Participate in Mobility Programme at ION2, UPM

SERDANG, 23 February - Three students from Shinshu University, Japan, recently participated in an academic mobility programme at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), from 16 to 23 February 2026. The programme was designed to provide international students with exposure to advanced research facilities, laboratory practices, and collaborative research activities at ION2.

The participating students were Shiyu Iwasaki, supervised by Dr. Ismayadi Ismail, Takeru Saga, supervised by Dr. Mohd Hafizuddin Ab Ghani, and Shinnosuke Takizawa, supervised by Dr. Intan Helina Hasan. Throughout the programme, the students were attached to their respective host laboratories and engaged in a series of academic and research-oriented activities guided by the supervisors.

During the attachment, the students were introduced to the laboratory environment, including key research facilities, equipment, and laboratory safety procedures. They also attended research briefings where the supervisors’ shared insights on ongoing research projects, laboratory research themes, and potential areas of collaboration between Shinshu University and ION2.

In addition to the briefings, the students participated in demonstrations and guided hands-on activities related to the laboratories’ research focus. As part of the programme, each student was assigned a mini research task aligned with the host laboratory’s expertise. The tasks were designed to be achievable within the four laboratory days and allowed the students to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical research setting under the guidance of supervisors and laboratory members.

The mobility programme provided valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange, cultural interaction, and research collaboration between the two institutions. Such initiatives reflect ION2’s commitment to strengthening international academic partnerships and fostering global research engagement in the field of nanoscience and advanced technologies.
