Students from SMK Sungai Ruan Visit ION2

SERDANG, September, 10 – A group of 33 students and four teachers from SMK Sungai Ruan, Raub, Pahang recently visited the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), UPM as part of their educational excursion to the Klang Valley. The purpose of this visit was to gain insight into ION2's pioneering work while enhancing their understanding of the fascinating fields of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

The event began with a warm welcome from Associate Prof. Dr. Jaafar Abdullah, Deputy Director of ION2. Following this, Ms. Roslina Abdul Rashid from the Laboratory Management Section provided an overview of ION2's critical role in advancing research and development in nanotechnology.

After the briefing, the students toured several laboratories, experiencing firsthand the life of a researcher and exploring high-tech equipment typically found only in research institutions. A highlight of the tour was the introduction to conductive paste, a notable product of research by Dr. Intan Helina Hasan, a Research Officer at the Functional Nanomaterials Devices Laboratory (FNDL).

This visit aimed not only to enrich the students’ knowledge of nanoscience but also to inspire them to pursue careers in scientific fields. ION2 hopes that this experience will provide students with valuable insights into the exciting realms of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

The institute expressed its sincere appreciation to SMK Sungai Ruan for selecting ION2 as their educational visit destination and wished the students great success in their future academic pursuits.
