SERDANG, 24th January 2024- ION2 hosted a visit from students and teachers of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Puchong Utama (1). The delegation was led by Puan Nurma Abu Hassan Basheri, along with two teachers and a representative from the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG).

The visitors were welcomed by Puan Juraina Md. Yusof, the emcee, followed by a welcoming speech from Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Suraya Abdul Rashid, Deputy Director of ION2. Prof. Suraya introduced ION2’s background and organizational structure. She also provided insights into nanoscale materials, covering their characteristics, morphology, and applications, allowing visitors to better understand the research during their tour.

Next on the agenda was a speech on green sustainability, delivered by Dr. Umer Rashid, Research Fellow at ION2. He emphasized the importance of maintaining and restoring the environment for the benefit of everyone.

The visitors were divided into four teams and toured ION2’s laboratories, including the Nanomaterials Synthesis and Characterization Laboratory (NSCL), the Nanomaterials Processing and Technology Laboratory (NPTL), and the Functional Nanotechnology Devices Laboratory (FNDL). They also visited high-tech facilities for analyzing nanomaterials, such as the Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM), Raman Spectroscopy, X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and several other pieces of equipment.
