The NanoDidik 2023 programme, a knowledge transfer initiative tailored for secondary school chemistry teachers, took place over two days at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2) in collaboration with the Malaysian National Nanotechnology Centre (NNC). The programme, officiated by YBhg. Prof. Dr. Mohd Nizar Hamidon, Director of ION2, aimed to enhance teachers’ understanding of nanoscience and nanotechnology. The pilot programme brought together 21 secondary school chemistry teachers from the Hulu Langat and Serdang Zones.
It began with an information session led by three esteemed ION2 researchers, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Siti Hajar Othman, Assoc. Prof. ChM. Dr. Jaafar Abdullah, and Dr. Ismayadi Ismail, sharing the fundamental principles of this scientific field. Participants engaged in an interactive laboratory tour, witnessing live demonstrations on the production and characterization of nanomaterials. They gained practical exposure to various nanomaterial production methods and characterization techniques, using high-tech equipment, including FESEM, Raman spectroscopy, XRD and nanosizer.
