Assalamualaikum and a warm welcome,

 

I am pleased to welcome you to the official website of the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), Universiti Putra Malaysia. This website serves as a central hub for information on our academic, research, innovation, and service activities, highlighting ION2’s role as a national and regional centre in nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Our mission is to support research and innovation in nanotechnology and advanced materials, with a focus on high-impact and sustainable technologies. ION2’s research ecosystem is anchored by three main laboratories:

• Nanomaterials Synthesis and Characterisation Laboratory (NSCL)
• Nanomaterials Processing and Technology Laboratory (NPTL)
• Functional Nanotechnology Devices Laboratory (FNDL)

 

ION2 also contributes to human capital development, offering postgraduate research programmes at the Master’s and PhD levels. Our postgraduate ecosystem provides students with research training, multidisciplinary exposure, and industry-relevant R&D experience in nanotechnology and advanced materials.

We welcome collaborations with industry, government, research institutions, and the community to share knowledge, develop technology, and benefit society.

Our research is supported by modern infrastructure, advanced instruments, and internationally standardised facilities. Two of our laboratories are accredited under MS ISO/IEC 17025 by the Department of Standards Malaysia, helping to ensure research that is high-quality and reliable.
