The energy field of study is designed to prepare students to design and develop new technologies related to harnessing energy. It encompasses fundamental and applied research on the development, design, and usage of renewable energy, energy storage and energy materials. Research areas for
renewable energy cover solar, wind, biomass, and hydrogen. Energy storage covers technologies such as batteries, supercapacitors, and other methods to store energy for later use, enabling better integration of intermittent renewable energy sources. Energy materials such as advanced catalysts, photovoltaic materials, and high-performance materials are explored and developed to optimise their cost and performance, enabling economic viability for energy applications.
