September 30, 2021 - The Material Synthesis and Characterization Laboratory (MSCL), Institute of Advanced Technology (ITMA), UPM has successfully organized a knowledge-sharing program by International Invited Lecturers online. It is a series of programs that invite lecturers from various universities from abroad to give talks and share the latest findings in their respective fields. A total of four series have been successfully organized in this program.

The first series was held on 7 May 2021 and the guest lecturer for this first series was Prof. Dr. Samir M. Iqbal of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, USA. He has delivered his talk entitled “Nanotechnology for Early Cancer Diagnostics” through a zoom application. A total of 92 participants participated in this talk. Most of the participants are from UPM students and staff. There were also some participants from outside UPM.

The second series was held on 23 July 2021 and the guest speaker for this series was Prof. Prof. Dr. Piyapong Asanithi from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Bangkok, Thailand. Prof. Dr. Piyapong Asanithi has shared his latest research entitled “Graphene Oxide Composite Materials for Electrochemical Determination of Biomolecules”. A total of 96 participants from UPM, as well as researchers from other institutions from within and outside the country participated in this program.

The guest speaker for the third series is Prof. Prof. Dr. Yuki Shirosaki of Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech), Japan. The third series which was held on 30 August 2021 was attended by a total of 81 participants from various institutions. Prof. Prof. Dr. Yuki Shirosaki has shared her latest research titled “Bioceramics and Related Biomaterials”.

Dr. Abdul Rasheed Pathath of the Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad, India, was the guest speaker for the fourth series. In this series, he has delivered his talk entitled “An Overview of our MXene Research: Synthesis, Characterization, Electrochemical Performance and Toxicity Evaluations”. A total of 51 participants participated in this program which was held on 30 September 2021.

The organizers hope that this program will benefit all participants. Hopefully, it can be a platform to add new knowledge, knowing new person and an initial medium for research collaboration in the future. It is also hoped to be one of the ways for external institutions to get to know ITMA more closely. The organizers would like to thank all the speakers and participants for their support in making this program a success.
